Jay Young

Jay Young is a sunny Louisiana native who is currently job captain at YBA Architects. He has 10 years of professional experience in architecture, with a dynamic range of projects including complex urban mixed-use buildings, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, ground-up commercial buildings, tenant improvements, single family residential, and has been involved in an off-the-grid community center development in South Africa.

Prior to working at YBA, Jay was a job captain at HBX Studio and an architectural designer at Emerick Architects and Dominek Architecture in Portland, Oregon.

Jay is a challenge-seeking, diligent individual with intense passion and drive for design excellence, environmental stewardship, and equitable practices. He enjoys developing projects from their earliest concepts through the schematic phase and into construction documentation. He has an eye for detail, values efficiency in his work, and constantly strives to improve on both personal and professional levels.

From comfort to couture, Jay’s appreciation for detail translates with ease into a keen personal style, motivated by a love of fashion. When not behind a drum kit or curating playlists, Jay is usually pumping iron, catching a live music show, or relaxing with his partner and their pets.
