The Con-way Master Plan is a transformative urban project designed to enhance community connectivity and vibrancy by developing Block 291 and Block 290 while aligning with the Northwest (NW) Master Plan. This project envisions the development of two adjacent blocks to create a cohesive and dynamic neighborhood square that exceeds the Master Plan’s requirements. By integrating these blocks, the project offers a unique opportunity to foster a thriving urban environment with improved public spaces, retail opportunities, and transportation solutions.
The square’s area will exceed Master Plan requirements, offering a more spacious and inviting public space. By moving the north edge of the square to the south face of Block 291W, the design minimizes encroachment into the adjacent 60’ parcel, preserving the integrity of the public park. Underground parking garage access will be strategically located on the north edge of Block 291 along NW Raleigh St. This placement alleviates congestion on Block 290, optimizing retail space and enhancing the pedestrian experience around the square. Additionally, moving vehicular traffic off NW Quimby Street creates a more vibrant pedestrian and bicycle-friendly environment, supporting a versatile Festival Street.
The collaborative development of Block 291 and Block 290 represents a forward-thinking approach to urban planning, aligning with the NW Master Plan’s vision for a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive neighborhood. Through thoughtful design and strategic integration, this project will enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to the long-term success of the community.
