YBA has worked with Andersen Construction to devise a multi-phase renovation of its existing early 1980s built headquarters building on Portland’s Swan Island. The design injects a vibrant, modern look and feel inspired by Andersen’s ethos as a quality-focused, creative firm. Highlights include a revamped lobby and reception area, new office suites and open office areas, upgraded kitchen and lounge areas as well as conference and meeting rooms.

Execution of the design required strategic thinking surrounding staging of work to minimize impact and disruption to daily operations. The materials palette makes intensive use of reclaimed materials, many of them salvaged from demolitions of existing structures on projects Andersen has built, then repurposed and up cycled through milling and creative integration with other design elements. The renovation has also included site and accessibility upgrades.
