Civic Station Gresham is a 318-unit, $52 million urban mixed-use multifamily and commercial development planned for the heart of the Civic Neighborhood in Gresham, Oregon. Located immediately adjacent to the Civic Station MAX light rail transit stop, the project is a keystone transit-oriented development in the overall Civic Neighborhood visioning plan. A half-acre public plaza, activated by an integrated multi-use play and gathering element, flexible commercial retail spaces at the ground floor of five-story wood-framed mixed-use buildings and a single-story micro-restaurant pavilion building forms the focal point of the design and an 18-hour center of life and activity for the neighborhood. The design has been carefully conceived to fit to the site, which features significant grade change of nearly 30 feet across its irregularly shaped 7.4-acre surface.

Two new public pathways are integrated into the site design, in addition to a variety of resident and public amenity spaces and both surface and semi-structured parking. Live-work town home units and ground floor residences with stoops and front doors to the street will line the less active street frontages. The formal design adopts a modern interpretation of traditional village townscape motifs in a nod to the urban village character prevalent in Gresham. A system of jogs, breaks and recesses in the principal massing, as well as a strongly articulated ground floor along the most active street frontages help break down the scale of the buildings and provide opportunities to conceal venting and other servicing elements.

We imagine + design places that enhance the human experience.
